Monitoring and Reporting
Groundwater and wastewater monitoring is conducted at Lynas’ Mt Weld plant.
Groundwater and wastewater monitoring for chemical analysis is undertaken as per requirements in the Prescribed Premises Licence L8141/2007/2. The Licence stipulates parameters to be sampled which are to be collected and analysed to Australian Standards. Lynas engages a Nationally Accredited Testing Authority (NATA) laboratory based in Perth to independently analyse water quality.
Lynas submits a consolidated environmental report to DWER and DMIRS which discusses the year’s mining and processing activities, environmental management and monitoring.
At the LAMP, groundwater and wastewater monitoring is undertaken in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Wastewater discharge complies with Standard B, Third Schedule of the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009.
Groundwater monitoring is conducted every month in accordance with the EIA conditions. Balok River water quality monitoring is conducted every month in accordance with the EIA conditions. Wastewater discharge is reported to the DOE through online environmental reporting. This wastewater discharge monitoring can be viewed on the DOE website: https://oer.doe.gov.my/.
